 THE GOALS OF RESEARCH PLAN:

  1. To improve the health status of the women with or without pregnancy .
  2. Providing the scientific care and management for maternity and gynecological problems. Through researching the health problems in the community and finding solutions for the obstetrical and gynecological problems.
  3. Supervision for post graduate Arabian and Iraqi followships in obstetric and gynaecology.

THE BROADLINES OF THE RESEARCH:

The research goal for the Department of obstetrics and Gynaecology is to develop the infrastructure for research interests that include.

  1. Maternal and neonatal mortality.
  2. Genital Cancer.
  3. Antenatal care and services.
  4. Infertility field.
  5. Screening for congenital anomalies.
  6. Recurrent pregnancy loss.

I.RESERCHES:

Maternal and neonatal morbidity and mortality

  1. Incidence and causes of maternal mortality.
  2. Stillbirth, frequency, etiology, risk factors evalulation.
  3. Association of parity with perinatal mortality outcome among triplets.

ANTENATAL CARE:

  1. Role of primary health center in detection of high risk group in pregnancy.
  2. Role of Ginger in management of merning sickness.
  3. Liptin level in hyperemesis gravidarum.
  4. Fetal and maternal outcome in anemic women attending in labour.

INFERTILITY:

  1. Letrazole versus clomiphene citratc in induction of ovulation in women with PCO.
  2. Ovarian reservoir and IVF outcome.
  3. Assisted hatching and IVF outcome.

BIRTHING:

  1. Reliability of expected date of delivery.
  2. Role of serum calcium and magnesium on preterm labour.
  3. The use of progesterone in prevention of preterm labour.
  4. A 10 year review of rupture pregnant uterus in Basrah  Maternity and child hospital.

FETAL CONGENITAL MALGORMATION:

Incidence and types of fetal and neonatal malformations.

RECURRENT MISCARRIAGE:

  • Role of different route of misopristone in termination of pregnancy.
  1. Thyroid hormone changes in threatened abortion and normal healthy pregnancy.
